A Request for Forgiveness

In trust repair, an apology is almost always necessary. And there is a science to the wording of an effective apology.

I shared the six components of an effective apology with delegates of Experience 2025, the flagship conference of the Investments & Wealth Institute in Austin, Texas, recently.

My favourite is the last one - The 'Request for Forgiveness - even though it is likely the least impactful of the six. You see, the granting of forgiveness signals that the trust-violating episode is finally over and that trust has been restored.
